How I Transformed Boring Content Into An Artistic Masterpiece

Boring content—it really is the pits. When you start reading it, it just hurts the eyes, and the more you start to read into it, the more you’ll…

Wake up!

Are you tired of creating the same old boring content but you’re not sure of how you’re going to get out of your rut? Well, I’m here to give you some pointers on how you can turn your boring content into something amazing… something wow

So, without dragging this on longer than it needs to be, here are some tips I follow in order to make some amazing content:

#1. Be Expressive In Your Tone

What all boring content has in common is that it isn’t a reflection of who you are as a person. I mean, come on, when you talk in everyday life, do you really sound like this:

“Content is king and it’s important to understand what content stands for to be able to write it better.”

No, you don’t sound like that, and if you do, then the cyborgs have already won this war. So let’s take a look at what you might actually sound like when using your own tone of voice in your content:

“You need to understand content better if you want to write more. As they say in the online world, content is definitely king. So why not try to give readers something they haven’t seen before?”

Do you see the difference? The first sample, while it reads well, gives the information in a monotone. This can be very drab when reading. The second version is worded similar to how your thought patterns might play out. Writing it this way means you don’t only inject some of your personality into the content, but you also bring life to it as well.

So think about the tone you’re trying to convey—is it expressive enough, is it fun? If not, maybe it’s time to try again and write it from a new angle… Write it from the heart.

#2. Give Detailed Information

Content that doesn’t give detailed information just doesn’t cut it anymore. If you want to be the competition everyone is talking about, you need to show you’re the best of the best. So, how can you achieve this? You can do this by giving more detailed information when writing by utilising bullet points, numbered subheadings, and other examples to explain different aspects of your writing.

For example, here’s a before-and-after of something I wrote a while back for the title, “How To Direct More Visitors Through The The Sales Funnel Using Content Marketing”:

Before

For this first example, you can see it gives basic information in a paragraph-style format. This is good and all, but it’s a bit bland and does the reader actually achieve what’s written? How do they achieve the production of professional product descriptions, or how do they provide helpful articles themselves?

To accomplish this, you need to give tips inside these tips. In other words, list down how you would achieve each subheading inside the subheadings as seen in these next screenshots of the finished and published article.

After

Can you see the difference? Do you feel like you got more out of the second example than the first? Yes!

That’s because the information is more in-depth and it gives a reader tips they can take away and use in their own lives. This is key in transforming your content into something amazing.

#3. Give Your Blog Visual Appeal

Boring content all have one thing in common: They don’t really provide good info in an easy-to-understand way. In my early writing days, I used to be guilty of this. I used to write basic paragraphs and didn’t really give much thought to it when it comes to visual appeal. Let’s take a look at an example of this one, which was written from way back:

As you can see, while this is good information overall, it can be improved by providing more visual elements to show what you mean. These can be in the form of screenshots, images, or just examples you write out. Let me show you:

Visual elements not only play a key role in grabbing someone’s attention, but they also do a great job of giving your content that something extra special. As seen in the example above, it really changed the way you look at the content and how you feel about the content. It becomes more inviting to look at (especially with that great smile from Mel, one of our Account Executives). This is why visual appeal shouldn’t be ignored, especially when you want your content to stand out.

Not only should you consider images and screenshots for visual appeal, but you should also consider other things like GIFs, infographics, videos, memes, and anything else you can think of.

The possibilities are endless.

Overall

When it comes to boring content, there’s one thing you need to remember: You can always make it better. So are you ready to take that boring piece of content you’ve written and turn it into an artistic masterpiece?
