NO-BS Marketplace’s roots can be traced back to an agency with a different name: Studio 56. It was your typical marketing service serving the Melbourne area, providing search marketing strategies to small and medium enterprises. Unfortunately, they faced several challenges that hampered their efforts, which led to less-than-stellar results.

With issues such as poor-quality links and missed deadlines persisting, Aaron and Tristan made the bold decision to take charge of their own link building efforts. It paved the way for forming an internal team trained in effective and transparent link building, an idea largely unheard of at the time. They also expanded their clientele to include other marketing agencies, further establishing their expertise in the field.

Despite securing lucrative orders like their AUD$50,000 sale to users on Black Hat World, an online SEO forum, another problem arose. The sheer scale of incoming orders meant that they would fall behind their commitment to deliver timeliness to clients.

Pooling their experience and expertise, the team began work on an all-in-one platform that gives clients more control over their link building needs. In 2017, the NO-BS Marketplace platform was launched to spectacular acclaim, earning AUD$500,000 in its inaugural year and achieving a month-on-month growth of 10%. Around this time, the brothers expanded their team to improve turnaround times and accommodate more clients.

The NO-BS Marketplace platform underwent a major overhaul two years after its successful launch. This mainly involved upgrades to the user interface to be more flexible for clients and the in-house marketing team.

The company also opened its first brick-and-mortar office in Geelong, over an hour’s drive from Melbourne, to support its operations.

Even the “worst year of the 21st century” (at least, according to many) couldn’t stop NO-BS Marketplace’s continued growth. Owing to the platform’s increasing popularity, we opened a second office at the heart of Melbourne and grew our Australia-based team threefold. It also had a slew of plans to introduce new features to the platform.

This year marked the platform’s expansion beyond link building, rolling out its much-anticipated content and SEO services. Clients can now request on- and off-page written content, complete with optimised keywords and work adhering to journalistic standards. They can also ask for a comprehensive website audit to see how they can improve their search rankings.

Also, NO-BS Marketplace went fully remote, shuttering its Geelong and Melbourne offices to better collaborate with its overseas remote staff.

With NO-BS Marketplace’s market value now in the millions, it enacted another round of improvements for the platform. These upgrades empower users with even more control over link building through features like the open publisher list and PR links. Pricing plans have also been adjusted for heavy spenders to enjoy discounts.

Almost a decade into its journey, NO-BS Marketplace is preparing for the next stage of its growth. Led by some of the industry’s seasoned experts, it aims to expand its presence by setting up hubs beyond Melbourne and some U.S. cities.
